It's not a bad idea. I'd rather not spend every other discussion worrying about how Misty's going to take it.

[ He looks over at Natalie. ]

Any more than I suspect you do. It would probably help if I'm with Arthur at the time; I'd guess half the reason he was defensive was because he's blind without me and down one arm.

They're in this together. He said it and he meant it. But, he can't help but glance over at the file. He wonders if- ]

[ Wry, and a little tired. ]

I'm sure I'll have to prove that. But I'd rather it isn't unsaid.

[ They've known each other less than a month, and he's been her warden for two days, and he's already told her that more times than anyone else ever has. She doesn't know yet how to put in words how that makes her feel, and of course all she wants to do is run away until it passes, but she stays put, nodding, not looking at him. ]
